The Horizon GS950T is a low mid-cost treadmill. This treadmill has much in common with the other two treadmills in this line, the GS1040T and GS1050T. Like the GS1050T, the GS950T has the FeatherLIGHT lift system, which is designed to make folding and unfolding easy. Like the GS1040T, the GS950T's 2.25CHP motor can hit speeds from 0.5mph up to 10mph. Also like the GS1040T, the GS950T has an incline of up to 10%. Like both of the other treadmills in this line, the GS950T has a speaker system with an MP3 input and headphone output. The GS950T lacks the higher cost GS1040T's amount of programs (sixteen as opposed to nine), thicker belt underfoot (1.6mm as opposed to 1.4mm), and FLEXzone adjustable cushioning (which offers more options than the GS950T's CushionMAX cushioning). The GS950T also lacks the GS1040T's MyVIEW display (though it does have a simple display). The GS1050T is also a higher cost treadmill than the GS950T, and so has a more powerful motor (2.5CHP as opposed to the GS950T's 2.25CHP), more range of speed and incline (up to 12mph, up to 12% incline), and twelve program options as opposed to nine. The Horizon CT9.1 is a treadmill designed to be simple enough for beginners but feature-rich enough for enthusiasts. This is similar in design and features to the CT7.1, but has a redesigned deck cushioning system, fan, and display. The deck uses a MaxComfort system, which offers increased shock absorption while still providing a stable running surface. The ducted fan creates powerful jets of air to cool the runner, and helps decrease the amount of noise. This helps runners head their MP3 player through the built-in Sonic Surround speakers. The Horizon GS1050T is a mid-priced treadmill. This treadmill shares features in common with the identically priced GS1040T. Both treadmills have a 20" x 55" two-ply belt running surface. However, the GS1040T's is cushioned by the adjustable FLEXzone cushioning system, whereas the GS1050T's is cushioned by the CushionMAX cushioning system, which gives you fewer options. Both the GS1040T and the GS1050T have an incline feature, but the GS1040T only inclines up to 10%, whereas the GS1050T can go up to 12%, for even more of a challenge. The GS1050T's 2.5CHP motor can go up to 12mph, whereas the GS1040T's 2.25CHP motor can only go up to 10mph. The Horizon Evolve SG is a mid-priced compact treadmill. The Evolve SG shares many specs in common with the closely related Evolve. Horizon emphasizes the compact design of both treadmills. The Evolve and Evolve SG will not take up a lot of space in your workout area (both treadmills' dimensions are 10" x 17" x 45"). At ten inches high when folded, the Evolve SG can be stored under your couch or bed. Both treadmills have speeds from one mile per hour up to six miles per hour. Both have two built in workout programs: manual and weight loss. Both the Evolve and the Evolve SG have a 17" x 45" running surface that has COMFORTzone cushioning. The Evolve SG is a step up from the Evolve in that it has a more powerful motor (1.5CHP as opposed to 1.25CHP), and a speaker system. The speaker system has an in jack that allows you to plug in your MP3 player. That being said, the two treadmills have the same MSRP. The Horizon Evolve SG compact treadmill comes with a ten year frame warranty, five year motor warranty, and one year parts and labor warranty.

The Sole F83 is a high mid-priced treadmill, a middle offering in Sole's F series of treadmills. The F83 has lots of features in common with the closely related F80. Both treadmills have a display that shows the speed, incline, time, distance traveled, calories, pulse and pace you are at (the F83's is red LED). Both treadmills have a 3.0HP motor that is Continuous Duty. Both treadmills have built-in speakers that allow you to plug in any MP3 player (like an iPod) and have it play aloud. The heart rate zone graph on the F83's console (a feature not shared with the F80) allows you to visually measure your heart rate, so that you can stay within the recommended zone while you work out. The F83 is an improvement over the lower cost F80 in that it has a larger running surface (20" x 58" compared to 20" x 55"), can go up to 12 mph (instead of just 11 mph) and has a reinforced framework (which makes for a higher user weight limit). However, the F83 lacks the larger 20" x 60" running surface, 33" x 80" deck, 400 pound user weight limit, and 3.5HP motor of the flagship F85 treadmill. Both treadmills have six pre-programmed workouts (two of which focus on your heart rate), as well as the option of making two user defined workouts. Both treadmills have built-in speakers that allow you to plug in an MP3 player (such as an iPod), and listen to your music out loud, keeping your workout headphone wire-free. The T6 has a large, spacious running surface that is capable of accommodating even the longest strides. The Merit 715T is one of three entry-level treadmills from Merit. As the base unit, the 715T hosts a 2.25 HP Treadmill Duty motor that supports speeds up to 10mph and a manual elevation as high as 5%. Designed to be spacious, the treadmill hosts a large 16” x 45” running area featuring an AEROsoft cushion system below the belt designed to isolate the user’s lower body from unwanted shocks. This means that even heavy walkers up to 250 pounds can jog or run safely across the belt. In general critics appreciate the powerful engine and the fact that the Merit 715T can be folded for storage. However, they don’t like the manual incline adjustments, or the lack of programs (only 4 included).

The ProForm 570 CrossWalk is one of two Crosswalk treadmills (570, 780) that function as both a treadmill and a part-time elliptical. Featured are CrossWalk Upper-Body Arm handlebars that function similar to an elliptical trainer in that they provide the user with an upper body workout, though critics say the bars aren’t optimally positioned. Regardless, the 570 CrossWalk hosts a 2.8 HP drive motor that allows for a maximum 10MPH speed or 10% incline. There are no major convenience-related features like integrated audio, MP3-player connectivity, or a television, but there is a fan built into the console to help keep the user cool. The ProForm 790T is one of three mid-grade treadmills from ProForm. As a slight downgrade from the 1050T, the 790T hosts a slightly weaker 2.5 CHP Mach Z motor. According to critics, the mechanical difference is near minimal, while the price difference of $300.00 is much more relevant. Keep in mind that all other features remain the exact same, including a maximum speed of 12MPH, a max incline of 12%, an integrated sound system (no headphones required), and an iPod-compatible music port. Mind you, the 790T does go from 20 integrated calorie-burner programs down to 16, but it comes with an iFit Workout Card that, once plugged in, automatically adjusts the speed and incline, while providing the voice of a personal trainer to guide the user through his or her workout.

The ProForm 590T is one of three mid-grade treadmills from ProForm. The 590T is the entry-level unit in the group. It sacrifices its superior counterparts’ integrated audio system and Mach Z Commercial Pro Motor. It instead relies on a standard 2.25 CHP Mach Z motor that allows a maximum speed and incline of only 10MPH and 10%, respectively. The Sole F80 is a mid-priced treadmill, a middle offering in Sole's F series of treadmills. The F80 shares some features in common with the closely related F63. For example, both treadmills have built-in speakers that allow you to plug in any MP3 player (like an iPod) and have it play aloud, instead of dealing with headphone wires. Both treadmills have six preset workout programs, including cardio training and fat burning modes. You can also create your own custom workout programs as User 1 or User 2. The red LCD display of the F80 treadmill shows the speed, incline, time, distance traveled, calories, pulse and pace, like the F63's blue LCD. The ProForm 780 CrossWalk is one of two Crosswalk treadmills (570, 780) that function as both a treadmill and a part-time elliptical. Featured are CrossWalk Upper-Body Arm handlebars that function similar to an elliptical trainer in that they provide the user with an upper body workout, though critics say the bars aren’t optimally positioned. In particular, the 780 adds along interactive CrossWalk workouts that prompt the user to use the elliptical-like handlebars during his or her workout. The Horizon T92 is a basic full-sized treadmill. This is similar to the Horizon T91, but has an expanded number of program options and extra features. The running area has been extended to a 55 inch length, allowing for slightly longer strides, but the maximum running speed and user capacity remain unchanged. The deck also continues the use of COMFORTzone Air Cell technology, which offers some shock absorption as well as support. New in this model are console speakers, which can accept MP3 input and offer an alternative headphone output. 3 orange backlit LCD screens display information on which program is selected, the current speed, and the heart rate as measured through contact grips. The program selection has also expanded to 13 in total, with more challenging options for more experienced runners.

The Horizon T91 is a treadmill built for ease of use. It is similar to the Horizon T90, but has a simplified display that puts all information on a central orange backlit LCD. The running surface has been redefined as well, being slightly wider and shorter and using a COMFORTzone Air Cell cushioning system that provides some shock absorption as well as support. The same quiet-running 2.0 CHP motor is used here to provide speeds from 0.5 to 10 mph, but a full 9 program options are now available for quick selection. Contact heart rate grips allow the runner's heartbeats per minute to be displayed on screen so that programs can be adjusted accordingly. A blower fan has also been included here to help keep the runner cool and comfortable.
