"I don't own this bicycle, but generally speaking I can give you some ideas. The power switch to the motor should not be on or connected. You should NEVER run the batteries all the way down, if they're sealed lead acid type, which I believe they are. These types of batteries don't "like" more

"The heavy weight of this bike is NOT due to the steel construction. It is due to the SLA (sealed lead acid) batteries. There are plenty of bicycles under 20lbs whose frames are constructed of steel. Steel bicycles are close to, if not equal to that of aluminum bicycles tanks to modern steel alloys."
