New pro/con: The standby button issue in con #3 above is not a universal problem with all the Access HD units. See more detailed discussion in the "comments" section via the link at the top of this page.

"Four units from two mid February shipments exhibit standby button issues. The standby button erases the channel programming on all four units, requiring repeated rescanning of all channels in contradiction to the user's manual. New pro/con: On the remote, the volume-up button is too similar in size and too close to standby button and the channel-up button is too similar in size and too close to the mute button, contributing to accidental shutoff and accidental muting when adjusting the volume or changing channels.
New pro/con: This brand has less desirable warranty return requirements than my other brand box potentially costing a $25 round trip if they disagree that the unit is bad. My other brand only requires the serial number sticker from the bottom of the unit be mailed in with an explanation using a single postage stamp.
New pro/con: RF output noisy, unlike the other brand box I compared it with under identical conditions. The other one has a metal enclosure that likely provides more shielding than the plastic Access HD unit.

New pro/con: continued from prior comment . . . I exchanged my two units for two more from a third late february shipment and the first one I tried did not have the memory problem. I noticed it was packed with a different power supply labeled "MOSO" that was rectangular shaped and almost 3" long instead of the more square shaped power supply the other four units had that all exhibited memory loss when using the standby button. So far the standby switch on the most recent one with the MOSO power supply has worked reliably (one use so far). I have not tried the other recent unit yet or tried the RF output on either MOSO powered unit yet but will post whatever I discover if it is different than my prior comments. AT least the memory problem does not appear to be universal with this brand and perhaps the MOSO power supply is the solution.
New pro/con: I wrote the preceding 4 cons based on experience with four different units from 2 different mid February shipments that and I have some new info. I exchanged the unit for another one in case

Three revised cons and/or comments:

.
RF output noisy, unlike the other brand box I compared it with under identical conditions.

.
This brand has less desirable warranty return requirements than my other brand box potentially costing a $25 round trip if they disagree that the unit is bad. My other brand only requires the serial number sticker from the bottom of the unit be mailed in with an explanation using a single postage stamp.

.
Four units from two mid February shipments exhibit standby button issues. The standby button erases the channel programming on all four units, requiring repeated rescanning of all channels in contradiction to the user's manual. Also, the standby button on these four units is not always reliable in powering up the unit from standby mode. At least one of the units would only power up by unplugging the power supply from the back of the unit and plugged it back in, and most of the units would not always power up on the first press of the button.

I exchanged my mid February units for units from a late February shipment and the one I have tried does not have the standby button memory loss and reliability issues. The late February units are packed with a different power supply labeled "MOSO" that is rectangular shaped and almost 3" long instead of the square shaped power supply the four mid February units had. Perhaps the MOSO power supply solved the standby button problems. However the RF output is still noisy even with the MOSO power supply, unlike my other brand unit under identical conditions.

All six original cons I posted as shown below that I want deleted:

.
RF output is too noisy to use, unlike the other brand box I have, requiring the use of the 3 phono plug outputs.

.
standby switch seems to be unreliable in powering the unit up from standby mode, and sometimes the only way to power up the unit is to unplug the power supply from the jack on the back of the box and replug it in, effectively defeating the convenience of having a remote and requiring you to get up and walk over to the box.

.
This outfit has less desirable warantee return requirements than my other brand box potentially costing a $25 round trip if they disagree that the unit is bad, which is likely to happen since they seem to have no problem shipping units with the above problems as acceptable for use. My other brand only requires the serial number sticker from the bottom of the unit be mailed in with an explanation using a single postage stamp.

.

Hey tvbob,

Thanks for all your input on the Access HD DTA1080D, however we'd prefer if you used the comment section for personal experiences and leave the pros/cons section for short and simple universal truths (which would include some of the issues you're having, as you claim they've occurred to multiple units). I will eventually have to delete / edit down some of your pros/cons so please copy and paste them into a comment. If you feel you would like to summarize your specific issues with the device into pros/cons that would be fine too. I will remove the longer comments afterwards.
