Vampire Weekend

This is Vampire Weekend's debut self-tiltled LP.  This band hails from New York and features 4 former Columbia University students.  Their sound is quite diverse with a mix of African guitar, Western classical canon, a bit of reggae and pop, organ-and-drum beats, and of course an overall alternative-contemporary sound that will remind one of such bands as Talking Heads, Paul Simon (Graceland), the Strokes, Bedouin Soundclash.

Vampire Weekend were on SNL last night, leading to some criticism of the lead singer's large sweater. Who cares? Their music is good..
