While the design and looks of the player are appealing, the Slickr lacks many features of modern media players. Most notably is the lack of ID3 tags support on music files. This means you select your music by browsing through the file system, there is no sorting and filtering by artist, album or anything like that. Furthermore protected music is not supported at all. Transferring files to the player is done through standard drag and drop functionality, making it compatible with both Windows and Mac computers.
Recording voice/line-in saves the audio as WAV format with no compression. Despite both the existence of recording functions, and FM radio, there's no FM recording. One of the Slickr's functions that Venzero is touting is the MusicMarker service. This allows you to record a short clip of something that is playing (say a song in a restaurant) and then take the clip back to your computer and have it automatically identified for you.
