The Verbatim USB/eSATA Desktop Hard Drive is an external, combo hard-disc drive featuring USB and eSATA connections. Users can either utilize the USB 2.0 @ 480 Mb/s, or hook up directly with eSATA, allowing them to reach high-speeds up to 3 Gb/s (max). And it is compatible with both Microsoft Windows PCs and Apple Macintoshes—useful for users who switch between computer types (home versus work). Included also is Nero BackItUp Essentials software, which incorporates scheduling backup sets, and even data encryption via password control. The only other comparable Verbatim HDD unit is the Professional Quad-Interface Desktop HD, which adds along FireWire 400/800 ports, but at the expense of a higher price.
