Vespa GTS 250

Fifty years ago, Piaggio shook up the scooter world with its Vespa GS (Gran Sport), at the time the fastest Vespa, the first to reach speeds of more than 60 mph and the first Vespa model with 10-inch wheels. Today, Vespa makes history again by renewing the GS blend of speed and style in the Vespa GTS 250, an uncompromising fusion of breathtaking performance, technical superiority and classic Vespa design, to become the most exciting model to date

Pros:
Do you agree?
The handling, reliability and low cost in insurance, gas and service have made this the best purchase I have made all year. I look forward to the 300 when it comes out.

Incredibly nimble and quick for a scooter. VERY, VERY fast, great brakes, and a nice ride condidering the size of the wheels. Very comfortable to ride for long distances. I've put 6500 miles on it and have not had any problems. The tyres are Sava's and aren't exactly the best, mine are in need of replacing....worn out.

Cons:
Do you agree?
Very small petrol tank, overflows while filling very easily. Air filter is oil soaked foam, great...if it was an off-road bike, really needs a paper filter, and it needs to be easier to get at. The top two thumb screws are very difficult to get at. Spark plugs, at least where I live, are very hard to get.

About the most expensive scoot out there.

Great when it works but ........ Practically new GTS250 runs rough. Neither Dealer nor Vespa rep able to correct the problem in one month's time. Holding throttle steady, the scooter reduces speed then accelerates in a lurching motion. Then continually repeats. Most noticeable at speeds under 30 mph. Started occurring after 2nd service. Has less than 3,000 miles. Some discoloring on the spark plug.

Dealer recommends that I drive it for another 2,000 miles and see if it goes away. Rep from Vespa corporate agrees! They both seem inept and unwilling to correct the problem. Any suggestions or ideas?

This is the best scooter I have owned! It has aways worked for me and my friends when we go out riding during the week to work or on the weekends on the westside of LA. Maybe the error is between the seat and the handlebars.
