YES! Facebook redesigned their interface and now you don't have to load everyone's crappy applications!

I'm in complete agreement with this journal entry:

I hereby do notify the world that I shall not join any form of online service that has any of the following features:

  • Requires me to work out who my friends are.
  • Asks me to approve you as a friend before we can communicate.
  • Sends me an email to tell me someone didn't send me an email.
  • Wants me to register before I can contribute.
  • Wants me to write a constant narrative of my life just in case someone unspecified wants to read it.
  • Expects me to manually give my availability or location for any reason.
  • Endorses products to others based using my name.

Coming next:

  • Any non-commercial site that doesn't use OpenID and wants me to create yet another username and password. (And you can guess which qualifier I'll be dropping after that.)
Yes, my Facebook account is closed. (And if you invite me to join a Facebook group, I won't.)

I heard someone blame Facebook for spreading the news about his divorce (gossip). And i was also told no to go on it unless you want to wind up divorced.  So for the first one - FB can be used as just another medium for gossip. Bottom line was his wife blabbed it on FB.  She could have used a cell phone, email, chat, etc.  so it doesn't matter.

For those who say it causes problems like divorce?!! This is like saying guns kill people.  Its only fullfills your intentions.  If you're on it looking for old BFs or GFs and trying to get something started with them then that's the user's problem. I suspect people with such intentions will find other ways to strike up old flames or start (new) extramaritial affairs.  You don't need FB for that. Gossip and cheating have been going on for 1,000's of years with no electronic help.  Although the kiddies today will have a hard time believing you actually had to physically get up and go to a club or bar or friend's party to meet and interact with other humans. (no cartoon icons and user-names)

Agreed - the nastalgia is only short lived. That's what makes it what it is. A short look over the shoulder is ok as long as you don't try to live in the present by trying to haul your past along with it.  After the initaial set up you're done for a while. all you need to so is watch your email notices when your acct gets activity.  Unfortunately, between cable tv, needless calling and texting from cell phones, and youtube, the last thing this country needs is another distraction to get lulled into.  Talk about the dumbing down of a nation.

This thread is amusing; keep it going.

By the way, people like you guys hyping the site (wether the hype is good or bad) keep it alive.

So just some food for thought; as long as there is always one or two people around promoting or starting a debate, which can be praising or putting down the site, Facebook is getting indirect and free marketing in a way.

All those stupid quizzes and applications, friend requests from strangers, unknown invitations are what defines the fb. I find my friends wasting time in fb while they could be out enjoying in the real offline world. Playing games like "Farmville". "pirates and shit", quizzes like "how lucky u are today", " who will you be dating", OMG pathetic, why would anyone even go through these craps. And i am not talkin about kids and teenagers even adults play these games, throw foods at friends :S:S .wow. LOL.

People just join fb because they think that its a part of "being cool". And if u consider fb as a communication medium then i would say there are better ways of communicating, send me sms, call me, thats even faster than turning on the laptop, logging into the net and then checking the mailbox.

Well there are some "advantages" like getting back your so called "lost friends". Oh! NO WAIT i thought good friends always keep track of each other.  FB has succesfully introduced "UNIVERSAL FRIENDSHIP" i see random guys sending friend request to my GF. HEY!! they are just trying to be cool, tryin to get more female friends in their prof. LOL

I have never gone on facebook and for good reason too. Facebook is only good if you want to keep in touch with old friends or make appointments with some current or new ones. Otherwise it is just a ton of useless applications that people are getting addicted to trying them. And the thing about having a lot of friends on facebook? That's just nonsense. They ask you to be your friends without you knowing who they are, there actual age, you will probably not even know if he/she is a stalker or a criminal.

I have seen two members of my family have a login on facebook, one of them rarely goes on it which I think is good and the other one just checks her requests and everything once every day which is also good. But one of my friends secretely spends over a minimum of 4 hours a day on facebook and is always asking to use someones laptop to go on facebook. Personally, I have better things to do.

Thank you for listening...

I have blocked nearly 90% of my friends apps. But Facebook is indeed handy to keep in touch with people in a different country and share you pictures easily.

Privacy/security remains a big issue with most people.

I am by no means an adult, but I have many reasons to express my concern about facebook.

My younger sister and mother have become alarmingly addicted to facebook, my sister used to go outside to play with her friends at least twice a day, now it's a strange thing to see her outside that long in a week! as soon as she gets home it's pretty much always "can I go on facebook?" my mum says she is doing something important but whenever I go in to take a book off of the shelf, she gawping at the screen playing another POINTLESS and USELESS game or application, to my knowledge she plays over 15 game on facebook and i'm lucky if I get to have a brief 5 minutes without her come in saying it's an emergency and that it will only take ten minutes, and hour later she's still on facebook playing a silly application or typing a random sentence like hi to someone she barely knows! My mum plays only a few games but has over 1000 "friends" and in her spare time she  is always on facebook, I help out as much as I can but it's getting a bit much, we have a great dane puppy to take care of and I nearly always take it out clean up after it feed it I  do alot to help raise but as I am not at home all the time it isn't me the puppy should be listening to. She complains at not being able to do some housework and says she doesn't have any time but whenever I see her, she's on facebook.

In my opinion it is pointless as people who I used to Hate are sending me friend requests and it goes to show that if you go on facebook you rid yourself of all logic, integrity, and will waste your life gawping at a stupid update like "i just finished eating some pie lol" facebook is dangerously addictive people face the facts!!!- from one concerned web surfer to another.
