The Nike Victory Red Cast V-REV Wedge is a tour grade wedge geared for golfers who desire the best feel and longevity. Featured is a new V-Rev groove design that now officially complies with the USGA groove rules. More importantly, the V-REV Wedge now hosts a more compact and low profile head shape that are a nit smaller than the Cleveland 588 wedges, yet not as cambered. In addition, this wedge was cast (rather than forged) from 8620 carbon steel, which is 45% softer than 17-4 stainless steel. There is also a Dual Sole Design. The Nike VR Pro Wedge is a professional grade wedge featuring a high frequency groove system. In particular, the wedge has more grooves than previous general wedges. Plus the many grooves are closer to one another and also deeper. This results in maximum flight control and enhanced shot to shot consistency. What happens is that as the rough gets higher, thicker, or wetter, the grooves help ensure less spin is produced. Keep in mind that the grooves still conform to the USGA and R&A rules. Also note that the VR Pro Wedge was forged precisely so as to offer top quality craftsmanship.

The Nike Victory Red Forged Wedge is a professional grade wedge sold alone as a part of Nike's Victory Red line of clubs. This wedge features High Rev grooves which are designed and milled into the club head up to the allowable limit in order to produce maximum spin. This gives the ball maximum spin, resulting in maximum control and shot placement. This club features a True Temper Dynamic gold shaft. Cleveland CG16 Satin Chrome Wedges

The Cleveland CG16 Satin Chrome Wedges are similar to the CG14 Tour Wedges, however the CG16 are slightly larger and have a slight offset to add more forgiveness. Like the other Cleveland wedges, the CG16 features Tour Zip Grooves and a laser milled surface for consistent roughness that conforms to the new roughness limits imposed by the USGA. The roughness is designed to optimize friction on and spin of the ball. The wedge cavity back is perimeter weighted but still has the "Cleveland feel." The sole has the Cleveland C Sole Design, which they say improves performance in bunkers. The shaft is designed to react and flex to the forces in any wedge shot. The wedges are available with custom inscriptions added to the hosel.

The Ping Tour-S Rustique is a specific type of Tour-S wedge featuring a finish designed to tarnish and naturally rust over time. Otherwise a standard Tour-S model, the wedge is made from 8620 stainless steel—a soft and quiet but solid material designed for reduced impact vibration. Cleveland CG14

The Cleveland CG14 wedges have three different models: Chrome, Black Pearl, and Camo. There isn't too much different between the three models. The CG14 Camo wedge has a multi-colored lazer-burn camo pattern integrated into its apperance, setting it out from the black and chrome of the other two options. The wedges use ZIP Grooves^TM technology which are rectangular sharp grooves instead of the standard rounded ones. They also feature the Cleveland Gelback technology which is a lightweight, visco-elastic material that serves to dampen vibration. The Cleveland CG14 wedges are aimed at the mid-handicap golfer whereas the Cleveland CG12 wedges are designed for the mid to low handicap players.

The Fourteen MT-28 V5 is a professional Tour wedge released in 2010 as a successor to the MT-28 V4. It features an enhanced new reverse taper design in which a single grove has been strategically placed between the club sole and blade portion of the wedge. This results in a higher and more stable CG, meaning players can execute their shots with enhanced precision. Note that the groove still complies with USGA groove regulation. Included also on the V5 is a flatter sole with a trailing edge and slight heel relief that, when combined, lets players better use the wedge’s bounce to execute shots from any rough, regardless of difficulty. There is also a rounding leading edge, which is located on the face, that promotes confidence and therefore improved trajectory.

The Wilson Staff Tw9 Wedges are tour quality wedges offered by Wilson that feature tour-miled grooves for shot-stopping spin from precise distances. They have lower-lofted cavity back options to bridge the gap between a pitching wedge and sand wedge for improved gapping. The 60°, 58°, 56°, 54°, 52° loft options have a tour-preferred smaller head shape while the 48° and 50° loft options have a slightly larger cavity-back with the same playability of a player's blade. The Cleveland CG15 is a top-rated, all-around wedge constructed with the precision accuracy of a laser. It features 4 perfectly calibrated texture lines milled between each grove to the conforming toughness limit. This surface toughness optimizes ball-to-face friction and maximizes spin. Included also is a wider sole width near the heel and a narrow sole width near the toe, which in turn improves bunker performance without sacrificing versatility. Testers at golf.com claim the ball clings to the face while the club keeps moving, making the wedge suitable for players of all ability. They did lament, though, over the unit’s shorter distance. Plus the head is somewhat too heavy.

Tour Edge TGS Wedges are basic golf clubs for sand traps. The pear shape design features a triple grind sole to eliminate bounce from the heel and toe of the club head. The center of the flange has been hollowed out and filled with TPE gel to dampen vibration, and to help distribute weight to the heel and toe areas. This improves forgiveness as well. The shaft is made of steel.

Model Variations

The standard model of Tour Edge TGS Wedge comes in a classic stainless steel. However, for a few dollars more, a darker carbon steel finish can be acquired instead.

The Cleveland 588 wedges come in two different lines. The 588 RS wedges are designed for players who have more difficulty than others escaping sand traps and bunkers. The 588 Chrome wedges are considered a classic wedge and were voted "Best Value" by Golf Digest in 2005. They have a traditional shape, a large face area, U-grooves and a high toe profile. They were designed to hit quick, high shots on to the green and come with a double nickel chrome finish. The 588 RS wedges bost 60 degrees of loft, a low center of gravity and an extra large "recovery sole". It steals its design from the classic 588.

The TaylorMade Z TP is a base model set of wedges offered by TaylorMade. The milled Z grooves with aggresive edges and increased volume gives maximum ball spin for more control and stopping power on chip shots. A tour proven C grind sole allows the player to open the face at differing degrees allowing various greenside shots to be acheived. It should be noted this is only possible on the 54°, 56° and 58° models. A smoked PVD fnisih reduces glare allowing the player to focus on the shot without any distracting reflections. These wedges come with a 117g True Temper Dynamic Gold shaft. The Z TP wedge is avalable in 52°, 56° and 60° lofts in RH and LH and in 54° and 58° lofts in RH.

The Ping Tour-S represents a set of wedges made from soft 8620 stainless steel, which according to critics provides a softer and quieter feel for reduced impact vibrations. Geared for golf players of all skill levels, the chrome-finished Tour-S wedges use a hosel that’s longer than other Ping wedges. This in turn causes the center of gravity to be closer to the heel, thereby producing a flatter ball flight. The Scratch 8620 is a CNC milled wedge that retails in six standard sole grinds specifically designed to fit one of the 3 swing types: Digger/Driver, Driver/Slider, and Slider/Sweeper. It features a precision milled steel flat face designed to create additional spin due to its textured surface. Included also is Scratch’s proprietary ABC groove technology engineered for maximum width and depth, allowing for a maximum spin without chewing. The Cleveland CG12 wedges come in three different models: the CG12 Chrome, CG12 Black Pearl, and the CG12 DSG. The Chrome wedges are built off of a classic design but make use of new and improved technologies and manufacturing technologies such as a proprietary CNC mill. The Black Pearl wedges do the same and use milled grooves to aid the consumer. Instead of the grooves being gentle slopes, the Black Pearl and Chrome grooves are solid, rectangular chunks that are bigger than normal ones. The DSG wedges use combined technologies ZIP Groove and Dynamic Sole Grind; the goal, to deliver high, soft touches.
