Introduced in October 2008, the WD10EADS is an upgraded version of the popular Green 1TB WD10EACS. Primarily targeted towards consumers who need a drive for media or long term storage/backups, the WD10EADS utilizes very little power and creates very little heat an noise. Featuring a similar spindle speed, a doubling of cache (from 16MB to 32MB) the WD10EADS is 10% faster while consuming 20% less electricity due to its use of three 333GB platters as apposed to the WD10EACS's four 250GB platters. Unfortunately, while the WD10EACS has seen significant price drops over the last few months (recently settling at an all time low of $130 compared to its introduction MSRP at $240), the new WD10EADS has an MSRP of $219.
