The Western Digital My Book Mirror Edition model is a high-end external USB 2.0 hard drive. It is designed for both in-home, and portable use. The Mirror Edition hard drive is about the size of an average paperback book and will take up about the same amount of space. It features an available 2TB (2,000GB) and 1TB (1,000GB) storage capacity, with a 16mb drive cache and a speed of 7200rpm. The Mirror Edition hard drive comes with support for automatic file backup through the hard drive's 2TB drive space; once something is transferred to the drive it is automatically backed up on the extra drive in the untimely event the main hard drive fails (two RAID modes; RAID 0 accesses full capacity of both drives, RAID 1 accesses only half the capacity while the other half is used for data protection). The Mirror Edition also comes with pre-installed safe shutdown software which prevents the hard drive from being shut down while files are being transferred, and interface support for USB 2.0 combined with RAID monitoring support. Additional features include install-free automatic plug in support for PC and Mac computers, energy efficient functionality that automatically turns the hard drive on and off with the connected computer, and a front panel capacity gauge that displays approximately how much space is left available.
