The Western Digital My Passport for Mac is a portable USB 2.0 hard drive that is preformatted with Mac HFS+ and is plug-and-play with Apple TimeMachine software. Western Digital also preloaded their own software called SmartWare which performs basically the same functions as well as offering it's own way of categorizing and managing various file types. The drives come in 250GB to 640GB capacities and have the same black or silver Soft Touch finish common to other WD Passport drives. 256-bit hardware based encryption gives the option of securely managing your files and a USB protective rubber flap also comes in handy during transport. Speaking of which, you only have to plug it in to engage and use the drive so no power cables or switches are needed. Very compact and pocket sized makes these good for everyday transfer of files between computers. Windows users require a reformat before using.
