Western Digital SiliconDrive II 2.5" PATA
The Western Digital SiliconDrive II 2.5" PATA is an internal 2.5" Solid State (SSD) hard drive that use the PATA ATA-5 interface and comes in 4GB and 8GB capacities. Offering modest read and write speeds of 34MB/s and 19MB/s compared to the faster SiliconDrive III Series that replaced it in the summer of 2009, this drive retains all of the standard WD technologies found in their SSDs including a top rated life expectancy of 4 million hours. Durability is a prominent feature in all of WDs SiliconDrive Series which make it suitable for use in military and high security applications, and is even available in an extended temperature version for use in extreme conditions. Other WD proprietary technologies have been included as well like SiSecure which safeguards data, PowerArmor for protecting against power surges or brown outs, and SiSMART which monitors drive condition and warns of any potential failure. A PATA CF card version is the other drive in this series which is actually a CF card that has the same features and comes with more capacity options of up to 16GB.
