The Western Digital WD TV Mini is a tuner designed to transmit digital media content from any USB device — camcorders; digital cameras; or flash, external, and hard-disc drives — directly onto a TV screen. It connects to a unit through a USB interface and then transmits content to a compatible television via either composite or component A/V cables. Included is a simple-to-operate remote control for navigator smoothly through all the available entertainment options, whether they are picture galleries, music sound clips, or full-fledged videos. In fact, the WD TV Mini was engineered to handle all the most popular formats available: AVI, MPEG, JPEG, and MP3.

- good audio format support includes open source / lesser known formats such as OGG, FLAC and APE
- easy to use
- energy efficient
- now supports the RMVB (Real Media Variable Bitrate) container
Cons
- no HDMI output
- no support for the popular open MKV container
- not a good value compared to the WD TV or WD TV Live
- no network connectivity
- lacks high definition playback
