hmmm...I never really noticed a big dip in the middle of the mattress. The mattress is very thin though, so if you wanted to increase the comfort level, you might want to upgrade the actual mattress or add additional padding to it. The other option could be to add a plank under the middle to add more rigid support...I would have to look closer at the the frame to see how feasible that is. For the cushions, you should notice there are 2 distinct sides: one is very flat and rigid (this is the bottom) and the other side "puffs" out and is much softer. Just make sure you have the cushions flipped the right way.
