The Wii Wheel is a plastic snap-on shell steering wheel for the Wii Remote for use in driving games. It gives the user a more natural grip on the horizontal controller for easier steering, including an extension for the B-button and a hole on one side of the wheel allowing for the use of the IR sensor.

After seeing some other 3rd party attachments for the Wiimote, I was skeptical about the construction of the Wii Wheel. Its actually pretty dense and well constructed. The Wiimote nestles inside snugly and is easy to remove. The B-button works well and I cannot imagine using a Wiimote on its own for steering in Mario Kart without it.

That said, I still find the Wii Wheel awkward to use. I am a woman and my hands aren't particularly large, but they aren't small, either, and I find I have to grip the wheel awkwardly in order to comfortably press the buttons on the Wiimote. Again, the Wii Wheel does make this easier than without, but its still not perfect. Unfortunately, I think the only way this would be solved is if they simply made a much larger controller with more ergonomically placed buttons and perhaps a 3rd party has already done so. Kids, I am sure, will have no troubles at all and I can see this accessory being very popular with the younger crowd.

As far as Mario Kart goes, I will be sticking to the Nunchuck configuration but it is nice to have some other options.
