1. commented on Eye-Fi Wireless 2 GB SD Memory Card - November 29, 2007 at 4:16 am

"I bought this as soon as I read about it. It's very easy to set up, and you can add multiple wireless networks to it, as long as they aren't pay or click to enter networks. It must be a direct (although it can be secured) connection to the Internet. It took me about 3 minutes to read the manual (it's like 6 pages) and another 5 minutes to install the software (on my Mac), set up the wireless network, create an account on the eye-fi web site, and take and upload my first image. It's truly EASY. It asks that you change the auto-power off time on your camera to 5 minutes (or longer) so the card has time to send the image to the server/computer. It will (simultaneously?) send images, as soon as you take them, to both your computer and to a participating web photo service. I tried both Flickr and SmugMug. Both worked perfectly. You have to re-configure the card if you move between computers, as it can only send the images to the computer it's set up for, however if that computer is not available, the images still make it to the web site. If for some reason there is no wifi connection to the Internet, the images you take are still stored on the 2gb card, so there is no issue if for some reason the Internet is not available where you are shooting. My next task is to try to link the camera/card to my computer and add in a new estarling photoframe, which (they say) can subscribe to rss feeds or web sites such as flickr and smugmug. I'll know more when my frame gets here, it's supposed to ship in 2 more days. Overall, the eye-fi card does what it promises, and I like it."

2. commented on Nikon Coolpix S7c - November 29, 2007 at 4:02 am

"Great pictures, menu system not as easy to use as the s6, and the physical controls need to be re-thought. Zoom button too small and it gets stuck sometimes; internal lens is good and it's a great camera to keep in your pocket at all times. Pros: great pictures, good flash, scroll wheel itself is a neat idea as it speeds up scrolling through pictures. Cons: menu system takes a backwards step compared to the Nikon Coolpix s6; buttons surrounding the scroll wheel on the back of the camera are way to small to be functional. I've NEVER been able to get the integrated wifi email system to work (the eye-fi card is awesome, though) If I had to choose an everyday camera, I'd stay with my s6 and ditch the s7c."

3. commented on Nikon COOLPIX S6 - November 29, 2007 at 3:56 am

"This was purchased as a replacement to a casio exilim camera, which I no longer liked because the lens wasn't internal - it extended when powered on. Problem with the Exilim camera is it kept turning on in my pocket and damaging the lens barrel. It was replaced by Costco twice before I decided on the s6. Overall, I was very happy with my s6. At CompUSA's going out of business sale I picked up an s7c for far less than I paid for the s6, and the menu system and physical controls on the s6 are far superior than those on the s7c. Back to the s6 review. Great camera. Good flash, good pictures; zoom button is really really small, and tends to get stuck sometimes, but overall I got my money's worth and I still use the camera today."
