Okay. It's me again. I've gotten over "breaking" my Xbox, and I'm ready to retry upgrading XBMC. I just would really like to make sure that I know what I'm doing before I mess things up again.
Again, here's the instructions on how to upgrade XBMC for the newest version. Apparently, this is the only way to do it to get it working correctly.
"* DASHBOARD INSTALL
Thanks to a new app called 'Team UIX's Xbe Shortcut Maker v1.0' by JbOnE, it's now extremely easy...
Edit XBMC\xboxmediacenter.xml to your liking & transfer contents of XBMC folder TO (this is VERY important) "E:\APPS\XBMC\". Rename <<RENAME_ME.xbe>> to something your bios can boot (see
http://manual.xboxmediacenter.de/wakka.php...BMCAsDash#h44-2 or read your BIOS README) and transfer to your C partition. No need to fiddle with HOME tag anymore, and future upgrades you won't need to worry about this file on C."
What I did before was:
-I created an APPS folder, because one wasn't made when I softmodded my xbox, and I never needed to have one. (But now it's very important.)
-I moved the XBMC folder into the new APPS folder. This gave me an UNupgraded XBMC in E/dashboard, and an UPgraded XBMC in E/APPS/XBMC.
-I renamed Rename_Me.xbe to xboxdash.xbe and then moved it to the C partiton, overwriting the old xboxdash.xbe file.
-After restarting, my xbox would no longer boot.
If someone would be able to tell me what I did incorrectly, I would totally appreciate it. Thank you.
