The Yamaha RX-Z7 is a high-end 7.1 channel a/v receiver released in October 2008 joining the Z series of receivers. It was released with an MSRP of $2699.95 along with the RX-V3900 ($1900) and RX-V1900 ($1400), and fits in below the previously released top-of-the-line Yamaha RX-Z11 ($5500) and the, now discontinued, Yamaha RX-Z9. It features 140 Watts / channel of power and it is powered by a Anchor Bay ABT 2010 video chip that can upscale analog video sources to 1080p. It features high-definition audio decoding of Dolby TrueHD and dts HD-MA, and has a built-in Ethernet port for streaming audio over your network and from the Internet. Many of its features and specifications are shared with the step-down RX-V3900; the RX-Z7, however, has more power, four zones, five HDMI inputs, 38 surround programs (vs. 22), and component video on zone 2. All of it's analog connectors are gold-plated; a feature only found in the Z series. The ABT 2010 chipset includes VRS technology that will do Progressive ReProcessing (PReP) to help optimize video for large displays.
