Not only will it notify you of emails, text messages and appointments in the car, but it will read them to you as well, and is controlled entirely through voice commands.

I spend a large amount of my time in the car and on the road, and usually this was time when I couldn't be very productive. Previously I could listen to my radio or iPod and if I needed news or weather information, I'd have to tune into the local radio station and wait.

Enter iLane. Now I can clear my inbox, reply to emails, get on-demand news and weather content and more, without taking my eyes off the road or my hands off the wheel. For me, this means never worrying about being bored in traffic, or behind on work."

1. commented on Michelin X-Ice Xi2 - August 13, 2010 at 1:06 pm

"I've had these tires on 3 different vehicles now. 1) a supercharged RWD convertible, 2) a V8 RWD sedan, 3) a FWD wagon.

In all 3 situations, this tire has performed FLAWLESSLY.

Most notably is on the convertible. Most people don't drive their sports cars in the winter, but the X-ice's narrow design and deep grooves allowed it to cut right through the snow and the sipes kept it firmly planted on icy hills and roads in my rarely-plowed neighborhood. I found my little convertible smoothly gliding past big 4x4s and AWD SUV's who were stuck in a ditch or snowbank.

The right tires in extreme winter conditions are everything- and these are the right tires.

However, if you drive on salted/regularly plowed/de-iced roads, you may not need something quite this good."

2. commented on Michelin Primacy MXV4 - August 13, 2010 at 12:58 pm

"Bought these tires as a replacement for the Michelin Energy MXV4 on my big old large soft RWD car.

For me, they are strictly a 3-season tire because the rubber is a bit too hard to be of any use in the winter. In fact, having bought them in the summer, I still had to break them in a little before they gripped as well as the old Energy MXV4s did.

However, this change in tread compound will probably result in a longer usable life, but I'm not even going to bother running them in the winter."

3. commented on Michelin Energy MXV4 S8 - August 13, 2010 at 12:53 pm

"I've had these tires on two different cars: One FWD and one RWD.

They are smooth, well-balanced, consistently average, quiet tires from new right up until their replacement.

On the FWD car, they are great all-season tires, but don't expect much performance from the big squishy sidewalls in turns.

On the RWD car, they serve as decent summer/rain/light snow tires, but don't put down the power in the winter as well as proper winter tires do. A lower profile tire would arguably have better handling characteristics but sacrifice the ride quality, so as a luxury tire, the MXV4 does a good job.

Tread life on these have been great, but upon replacement we found that they no longer are being produced, and now the Primacy is the new MXV4."

1. commented on RIM BlackBerry Storm - August 13, 2010 at 2:41 am

"This phone is very well constructed and extremely durable. I have owned one for about a year now, and have some notes to share.

1- Don't even bother using this phone if you don't upgrade to OS 5.0 or better. The interface is painfully slow in previous versions but is many times better with the update. Not only is the phone extremely faster, but much more stable and reliable.

2- This device would be better with Wifi.

3- Extremely solid build, amazing camera, screen, video recording, connectivity, build and decent battery life (all of which improve with os 5)

4- Difficult to type long emails or messages without some practice, HOWEVER- if you set it to SureType in portrait mode and full keyboard in landscape mode, your experience will improve. SureType allows for one-handed operation in portrait. If you plan on writing all your emails on this device, just get the Torch 9800

5- Lack of 3G makes it a little slower in terms of surfing experience and difficult to compare to the iPhone

6- You learn to love the soft touch/hard touch option. Selecting items is very easy with a light touch and pushing a little harder engages the click, which I find useful in ensuring I don't make any typing errors. And the spelling suggestions are there in the unlikely event that I mess up anyway.

7- The touch screen centers selection around the middle of your fingertip as opposed to many touch devices which require a more focused pressure point, which leads many people to use fingernails. I find the Storm's interface way more easy-to-use in this regard vs. others.

With all of these notes, I have vowed to keep my Storm 9500 forever as a backup phone to my venerable Bold 9000. I find myself switching to the Storm from time to time and enjoying the overall user experience as well as the 3rd party apps while still being able to conduct business and send/receive emails from it."

2. commented on RIM BlackBerry Bold - August 13, 2010 at 2:25 am

"I've had my Bold for several months now. Having used several older Blackberry devices and a few newer ones, I can safely say the following:

As with many RIM devices, this phone can really only be appreciated once you make the update to OS 5.0 or better. The phone is quicker, and the browser is much better with 5.0. I find the device to be extremely stable, and lock functions can be customized with a little practice setting one up.

The experience is fantastic on the Bold, with excellent sound and video quality and OS5 making full use of the 3G for a lightning-fast browsing experience.

This phone is also more reliable/less buggy than the newer Bold 9700 in my experience. I have experienced very few errors or glitches that are always solved with a battery pull, as opposed to the 9700 which has a tendency to become unresponsive or shut down mysteriously.

I will likely have my Bold for a long time.

PS- the user interface is easily changed using the Blackberry theme builder or even just by playing around with your settings."
